There are addiction programs available in or near Mexico that cater to both methadone and buprenorphine clients only, controlled medications which are administered in what is called opioid maintenance therapy. Methadone is a full opioid agonist just like heroin, and buprenorphine is a partial agonist, meaning the same neural receptors that make a person feel high from morphine or heroin are stimulated by these two drugs so therefore an opioid addicted client will ideally no longer engage in drug seeking behavior and won't have cravings and withdrawal. There are dangers with drug interactions, side effects, and even overdose with both methadone and buprenorphine, which is why they are highly regulated and can only be prescribed in a clinical setting.

Methadone and buprenorphine clients are on these medications daily so they don't experience withdrawal symptoms, etc. but hopefully at a dosage which isn't also causing them to feel euphoria.
