Methadone and Buprenorphine Clients Only - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Facilities - Napoleon, IN.

There are substance abuse programs available in or near Napoleon which service both methadone and buprenorphine clients only, medications which are used in what is called opioid maintenance therapy. Methadone is a full opioid agonist just like heroin, and buprenorphine is a partial agonist, meaning the same nerve cell receptors which make a person feel high from heroin or prescription pain killers are activated by these two drugs so therefore an opiate addicted client will instead not become involved in addict behavior and won't have cravings and withdrawal. There are risks of side effects, drug interactions, and even addiction and overdose with both buprenorphine and methadone, which is why they are highly regulated and can only be dispensed in a clinical setting.

Buprenorphine and methadone clients take these medications regularly so they don't experience cravings, withdrawal, etc. but hopefully at a dose which isn't also causing them to feel high. Euphoria occurs at a high dosage, more so with methadone than buprenorphine. At clinics that treat methadone and buprenorphine clients only, actual rehabilitation activities and therapies are limited beyond this and the main treatment goal is to handle the withdrawal symptoms and put an end to the illicit drug use. Some programs do provide a limited amount of counseling and therapy as supplementary services, and it is encouraged.
