SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Programs - Wilkinson, IN.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its obligations is the administering of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are centers that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation facilities in Wilkinson are programs that are legally permitted to distribute the medicines used in MAT being they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary benefits aside from medication such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehabilitation facility can get their initial approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment program is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every three years depending on the type of accreditation it has been given.
