The military currently uses a military insurance called Tricare to help veterans, active military members and their families obtain health benefits. There is Tricare Prime, Tricare Standard, and Tricare Extra. Tricare Standard offers benefits for retirees of the military who are 60 or older and their qualified family members. With Tricare Standard they have access to any civilian health care provider that is payable under Tricare, but also pay yearly deductible and coinsurance, in addition to any out-of-pocket expenses. Tricare Extra is available to Tricare Standard beneficiaries which grants access to non-military health care professionals within their provider network, with a discounted coinsurance amount. Tricare Prime is offered to all active-duty members, retirees, and all qualified family members, and with this they can select a primary doctor and obtain referrals to health care services that offer specialty care.
Through TRICARE, members of the military can receive drug and alcohol rehabilitation services in Covington. This encompasses individual and group therapy including family therapy, detoxification, and other various treatment services. They will need pre-authorization for services and there will most likely be some limitations. Military insurance covers both outpatient and inpatient, but stays for detox are restricted to 7 days. An inpatient or partial hospitalization following detox will only be authorized if it is an approved treatment center, and there are time limits as to how long military insurance carriers will be allowed to stay in treatment.
