Alcohol and drug abuse programs for Military Veterans are essential for the mental well-being and overall stability of Vets of all branches of the military. Because substance abuse and other mental health disorders are found at higher than average rates among Vets, it is crucial that Veterans get the help they need due to such high rates of suicide also associated with these disorders among our Vets.
Drug and alcohol abuse programs for Vets in Kite are available through the VA, with included services such as measures to address associated disorders such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), depression, pain, disturbed sleep, irritability, and/or relationship problems which most commonly trigger substance abuse disorders among Veterans. Treatment for substance abuse and related problems among Military Veterans includes individual and group therapy and psychotherapies that can increase a person's desire to change. Involvement in outside support such as AA and other support groups is recommended. Medications are also available in some circumstances to help Vets decrease their drug, alcohol and tobacco use.
Substance abuse facilities for Vets are offered during the evening and weekend hours, with both outpatient and residential programs available. Programs that are Women-Only or Men-Only and those for homeless Military Veterans are available in certain areas.
