It is estimated that around 75% of clients at residential rehabilitation programs for drug addiction and alcoholism are smokers. While it is true that nicotine is addicting and clients in any sort of treatment for addiction should endeavor to be free from all addictive substances, this can present problems that make enforcing a smoking ban outweigh the benefits of such restrictions.
