Clients Referred from the Court - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Programs - Berkshire, MA.

Clients referred from the court for drug treatment are most commonly referred because they are being given a chance to try their hand at treatment in lieu of jail time, other charges, fines, etc. While this is most common with first time offenders, it can be offered at any time including while the defendant is being held in jail. There are different types of programs that offenders can be referred to, and this depends on which programs are available in Berkshire and the type of issues they'll need treatment for.

There are programs that work primarily with the courts to administer to this explicit type of clientele, and are usually state or federally funded or are available at little or no cost to the client. There are also private drug and alcohol treatment programs that may be accepted by the court if there is a specific type of recovery method that the person requires or desires that a state-funded program can't fulfill. The client's legal representation can request such options to the judge for permission. There are even addiction recovery facilities that operate out of the jails themselves, where clients are typically in a better position for reduced sentences or other leniencies when engaging in drug treatment services while serving their sentence for a drug offense or a DUI/DWI.
