Crisis Intervention Team - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Centers - Mexico, ME.

A crisis event, such as someone suffering the tragic effects of a mental health issue such as alcoholism or drug addiction, calls for an intervention directed by professionals who can help get them the treatment they need before it's too late. A Crisis Intervention Team in Mexico is a form of community monitoring which calls upon and utilizes healthcare, law enforcement and other concerned agencies as well as family members to assist those in crisis. This starts with the training and education of healthcare providers, law enforcement officers, and other contributing team members in the community so they know how to respond and effectively work together during such a crisis. There are training programs available to train law enforcement officers and 911 emergency dispatchers for example, which includes 40 hours of training in supporting the mental health professionals they will be working with during the crisis, refining verbal de-escalation skills so that they can address and resolve the crisis without it turning into a potentially violent or hostile incident, etc.

In many instances, Crisis Intervention Teams also help by way of jail diversion. Meaning, being able to properly respond to the incident as a health disturbance and not a crime helps keep individuals having a mental health crisis out of jail and where they should be, in treatment and receiving help. Additionally this keeps individuals with mental health issues out of prison where they do not have access to adequate mental health therapy and resources to appropriately address their issue, such as a substance abuse disorder. Instead of jail, individuals in crisis can receive behavioral therapies, counseling, medication and other recovery services to rehabilitate them. This not only benefits the person in crisis, but also the entire community because it costs more to keep someone with a mental health disorder in prison than it does to treat them in a mental health program.
