There are substance abuse programs available in or near Breckenridge that cater to both methadone and buprenorphine clients only, controlled medications which are administered in what is called opioid maintenance therapy. At centers which treat methadone and buprenorphine clients only, actual rehabilitation activities and therapies are limited beyond managing the medication and the primary treatment goal is to address the withdrawal symptoms and put an end to the illicit drug use. Some centers do deliver a limited amount of counseling and therapy as supplementary services, and this is recommended and encouraged.
