Medicaid is an insurance option for low-income households that due to the Affordable Care Act must cover standard substance abuse rehabilitation services. Medicaid is presently the single largest payer for mental health services in the U.S., and is beginning to play a significant role in the reimbursements of treatment for drug and alcohol treatment. Medicaid holders will want to consider that while this is the case, not all rehab programs accept Medicaid. At facilities which do accept Medicaid, individuals won't have co-payments in most states. For states which do charge co-pays, there are limits to the out-of-pocket expenses for recipients.
