At programs which treat methadone and buprenorphine clients only, actual rehabilitation activities and therapies are generally limited beyond this and the main treatment objective is to manage the physical symptoms of their dependence. Some centers do provide a small amount of counseling and therapy as auxiliary treatment, and it is recommended and encouraged.
