Regular out-patient rehab is usually a less costly alternative to more intensive outpatient centers or inpatient recovery, and is the lowest intensity of formal substance abuse rehabilitation available in Hanover. Some individuals are in rehab for their first time and have chosen regular outpatient because that is all they can afford and time commitment and scheduling because of work, school or other obligations. In some cases, regular outpatient is a "step-down" from treatment in a more intense outpatient program such as a partial hospitalization or inpatient center.
Regular out-patient rehabilitation services usually involve some kind of individual and group counseling services occurring once or twice a week. Programs which include a wider spectrum of services may include psychotherapies (behavioral therapy) to help with relapse prevention and dual-diagnosis services to help address co-occurring substance abuse and mental health issues. The length of time someone stays in recovery can change from client to client, and a person's progress can be assessed occasionally and more treatment can be suggested contingent upon these evaluations.
In many cases, a regular outpatient recovery program is going to be insufficient in intensity for an individual who is dealing with a bad drug and alcohol problem and has not experienced rehab before or has fallen off the wagon following prior outpatient rehab.
