At programs that treat methadone and buprenorphine clients only, actual rehabilitation activities and therapies are limited beyond managing the medication and the primary treatment objective is to treat the physical symptoms of their dependence. Some clinics do provide a limited amount of counseling and therapy as auxiliary services, and this is encouraged.
