Methadone maintenance is a form of treatment for individuals in Skandia who are addicted to heroin or prescription opioid medications. This form of treatment has been around for a very long time, and the general idea is that individuals are no longer wrapped up in the drug using behavior that was brought on by their addiction due to the methadone that they are being administered satiates cravings and prevents withdrawal.
