The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to promote the behavioral health of the nation. An opioid rehabilitation facility can get their basic approval documentation while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, however, are required to get their full accreditation in a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment program is approved to operate, they need to get re-certified every year or every 3 years depending on the type of certification that was granted.
