There are substance abuse programs available in or near Brooten that cater to both methadone and buprenorphine clients only, drugs which are administered in what is called opioid maintenance therapy. Euphoria is possible at at higher dosages, more so with methadone than buprenorphine. At centers that treat methadone and buprenorphine clients only, treatment therapies are generally limited beyond this and the primary treatment objective is to treat the withdrawal symptoms and put an end to the illicit drug use. Some centers do provide a small amount of counseling and group therapy as auxiliary services, and this is recommended and encouraged.
