SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Programs - Delano, MN.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to advance the behavioral health of the United States. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid treatment programs, which are programs that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine prescribed are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment centers in Delano are programs that are legally allowed to give out the medicines used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary benefits aside from medication such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehab program can receive initial approval documentation while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment center is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the type of accreditation it has been granted.
