SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers - Halstad, MN.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to promote the mental health of the nation. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are programs which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment centers in Halstad are programs who are officially allowed to dispense the drugs used in MAT being they maintain their certification and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary services in addition to medicine like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment facility can receive basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid treatment programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment program is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years depending on the type of accreditation it has been given.
