SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Programs - Navarre, MN.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to promote the mental health of the nation. One of its obligations is the administering of opioid treatment programs, which are programs that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine prescribed are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment facilities in Navarre are programs which are legally permitted to distribute the medicines used in MAT as long as they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary benefits in addition to medication such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment center can receive initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years contingent upon the kind of certification it has been granted.
