The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to advance the mental health of the United States. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid rehab programs, which are programs who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications given are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent individuals.
