SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Centers - Truman, MN.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to promote the behavioral health of the nation. One of its obligations is the oversight of opioid rehab facilities, which are programs which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid addicted clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation centers in Truman are programs that are legally allowed to dispense the drugs used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive ancillary services aside from medication like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment center can receive basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation program is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every 3 years depending on the type of certification it has been given.
