The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid treatment programs, which are programs which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency.
