Medicine given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab centers in Underwood are programs which are legally permitted to distribute the drugs used in MAT being they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also receive auxiliary benefits aside from medicine like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab center can receive initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment center is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every 3 years depending on the kind of accreditation it has been granted.
