The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department responsible for efforts to advance the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its obligations is the oversight of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine given are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent people.
