SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Facilities - Scott, MS.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. One of its duties is the administering of opioid rehab facilities, which are centers which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment centers in Scott are programs which are legally permitted to give out the drugs used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get ancillary services in addition to medicine like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab center can receive initial approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. Likewise, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid treatment program is certified, it must be re-certified each year or every 3 years contingent upon the type of accreditation that was given.
