Regular out-patient rehab is mostly a less expensive choice to more intensive outpatient options or inpatient recovery, and is the lowest intensity of formal substance abuse rehabilitation available in Zurich. Some people are in rehab for the first time and have chosen regular outpatient because of the cost and commitment to time wise and logistically because of school, work or other obligations. For many, regular outpatient is a "step-down" from treatment in a more intense outpatient center like a partial hospitalization or in-patient center.
Regular out-patient recovery services offer group and individual counseling services occurring once or twice a week. Centers which include a wider array of services may include counseling (CBT) to assist with relapse prevention and dual-diagnosis services to help address co-occurring addiction and mental health disorders. How long a person remains involved in treatment can change from client to client, and a client's progress can be judged every now and then and an extension of rehab can be recommended contingent upon these evaluations.
In many cases, a regular outpatient rehabilitation facility is going to be deficient in intensity for an individual who is dealing with a bad drug and alcohol problem and has never gone to rehab before or has fallen off the wagon after previous outpatient treatment.
