Regular out-patient treatment is mostly a less expensive alternative to more intensive outpatient options or inpatient rehab, and is the lowest intensity of formal alcohol or drug treatment available in Advance. Some clients are attending treatment for the first time and have chosen regular outpatient because that is all they can afford and time commitment and scheduling because of school, work or other obligations. In some cases, regular outpatient is a "step-down" from treatment in a more intensive outpatient facility such as a partial hospitalization or inpatient center.
Regular outpatient rehab services usually involve some kind of group and individual counseling services occurring once or twice a week. Centers that offer a wider spectrum of services may include psychotherapies (CBT) to assist with relapse prevention and dual-diagnosis services to help address co-occurring substance abuse and mental health disorders. The length of time a person remains involved in recovery can change from client to client, and a client's progress can be assessed from time to time and an extension of rehab can be suggested contingent upon these findings.
In many situations, a regular outpatient rehab program may be insufficient in intensity for an individual who is addressing a severe drug and alcohol issue and has not experienced rehab previously or has relapsed after previous outpatient rehabilitation.
