The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to promote the behavioral health of the United States. One of its duties is the administering of opioid treatment programs, which are centers who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications prescribed are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation programs in Advance are programs who are legally permitted to dispense the drugs used in MAT being they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. A requirement that MAT individuals must also receive auxiliary services in addition to medicine like counseling or behavioral therapy.
