SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Centers - Cumberland, NC.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to advance the mental health of the United States. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid rehab facilities, which are centers that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Drug given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment facilities in Cumberland are programs which are legally allowed to distribute the medicines used in MAT as long as they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get auxiliary services aside from medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehabilitation center can get their initial certification while they endeavor to get their full accreditation, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every three years depending on the kind of accreditation it has been given.
