The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to advance the mental health of the United States. One of its obligations is the supervision of opioid treatment facilities, which are centers which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals.
