SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Programs - Dudley, NC.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to advance the behavioral health of the nation. One of its obligations is the administering of opioid treatment programs, which are programs who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Drug given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that help curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment facilities in Dudley are programs who are officially permitted to distribute the medicines used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary services in addition to medicine such as psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab program can receive basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation facilities accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation facility is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every 3 years depending on the type of certification that was given.
