SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Programs - Henderson, NC.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of health efforts to promote the mental health of the nation. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation programs, which are centers which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications given are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent people. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment centers in Henderson are programs who are legally allowed to dispense the drugs used in MAT being they remain certified and always maintain the necessary requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive ancillary benefits in addition to medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment facility can receive basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation center is certified, it must be re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the kind of certification it has been granted.
