SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centers - Kittrell, NC.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to advance the mental health of the U.S.. One of its responsibilities is the administering of opioid treatment facilities, which are programs who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medications administered are drugs like methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab facilities in Kittrell are programs who are officially allowed to give out the drugs used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get auxiliary services aside from medicine like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment program can receive basic approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab programs authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. Likewise, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab center is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years depending on the kind of certification it has been given.
