Drug given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent clients. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also receive auxiliary benefits aside from medicine like counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid rehab program can receive basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation program is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every 3 years contingent upon the kind of accreditation it has been given.
