SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Centers - New Hill, NC.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to advance the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the administering of opioid treatment programs, which are programs which offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are in the midst of opioid dependency and addiction. Medicine prescribed are drugs such as buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation facilities in New Hill are programs who are legally allowed to dispense the medicines used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also get auxiliary benefits aside from medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment facility can get their initial certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation facility is approved to operate, it must be re-certified every year or every three years depending on the type of certification that was granted.
