The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for health efforts to advance the mental health of the United States. One of its obligations is the oversight of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are centers that offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid dependency and addiction. Medications administered are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that stop curb cravings and withdrawal for opioid dependent clients. SAMSHA certified opioid rehab centers in Stokes are programs who are legally allowed to distribute the drugs used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements.
