SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Drug and Alcohol Treatment Centers - Townsville, NC.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government department in charge of efforts to promote the mental health of the nation. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid rehab facilities, which are programs which provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to individuals who are in the midst of opioid addiction and dependency. Medications given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs that help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation centers in Townsville are programs who are legally allowed to distribute the medications used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT individuals must also get ancillary benefits aside from medicine such as counseling or behavioral therapy.

An opioid treatment center can get their basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehabilitation programs accredited by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA office. Once an opioid rehabilitation facility is certified, it must be re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the type of accreditation it has been given.
