SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Programs - West Jefferson, NC.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of health efforts to promote the behavioral health of the United States. One of its duties is the supervision of opioid treatment programs, which are centers that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medications given are drugs such as methadone, buprenorphine and other drugs which help withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment facilities in West Jefferson are programs which are officially allowed to distribute the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get auxiliary services in addition to medication like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehab program can receive initial approval documentation while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities accredited by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehabilitation facility is certified, they need to get re-certified each year or every three years contingent upon the kind of accreditation that was granted.
