Treatment Services for the Hearing Impaired - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Centers - Regent, ND.

Drug treatment services for the hearing impaired are available in both an outpatient and inpatient basis. Individuals with a hearing impairment may be at a greater risk of substance abuse problems as a result of their impairment. Having a significant disability can be a source of discouragement, depression and apathy for both adults and adolescents who may turn to drugs or alcohol to deal with these feelings and emotions. Hearing impaired services are available in Regent to help resolve addiction for these clients, with ASL and other assistance which provides recovery and treatment information and education in writing so that clients aren't hindered from receiving help as a result of their handicap.

Substance abuse treatment centers with full time staff to assist the hearing impaired are the most appropriate programs to consider. Some facilities may only have part-time staff to assist and interpret this demographic, which this means hearing impaired clients may not receive the same treatment as everyone else and will miss out on essential activities they should be participating in every day. There could be video presentations offered which use sign language as well, which is also very helpful.

There are agencies and organizations which provide hearing impaired people suffering with addiction with information and resources to find the rehabilitation services they need. One of these is the Deaf Off Drugs and Alcohol (DODA).
