Intensive outpatient treatment, also known as "IOP", is a form of recovery from a substance abuse problem that is significantly more comprehensive and involved than a regular outpatient program. Intensive outpatient treatment is a vital activity for people in Clay Center who have recently finished residential or inpatient rehab, and still need moderate support and encouragement while they progress to a clean and sober and ethical lifestyle. IOP's consist of treatment which occurs more often than normal outpatient, where clients will participate in the treatment usually once or twice a week unless otherwise adjudicated.
Intensive outpatient treatment usually consists of group and sometimes individualized counseling and therapy sessions to continue to help address the individual's addiction. Individual sessions often occur at least once a week, and group sessions can add the peer support that is vital for long term sobriety. In intensive outpatient treatment, focus is placed on improving relapse prevention skills, managing every day challenges and vulnerabilities, and how to manage any lingering withdrawal symptoms and cravings. Some intensive outpatient rehab centers include family and couples/marriage counseling into the recovery process, which can be essential for individuals who must rebuild their relationships with their loved ones and family members.
