Naltrexone is another medication used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications aforementioned it is an opiate blocker and isn't an opioid. A person has the choice to take this medication as a monthly injection, which is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents someone from experience high feelings from opioids, and in turn lowers the risk associated with relapse.
