Medicare is a federal program which helps pay for medical healthcare services for individuals living in the U.S. who are either disabled or 65 years of age or older. Medicare consists of different "Parts", with Parts A-D covering certain kinds of medical care.

Part D (Prescription Insurance) Medicare Part D covers substance abuse related medications. Including medications used for withdrawal symptoms during detoxification as well as those required for maintenance therapy such as methadone or buprenorphine.
