The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency in charge of efforts to promote the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its responsibilities is the supervision of opioid rehabilitation facilities, which are programs who offer medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to clients who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine prescribed are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs that stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid dependent individuals. SAMSHA certified opioid treatment programs in East Derry are programs who are legally allowed to dispense the drugs used in MAT as long as they remain certified and continue to meet certain requirements.
