Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Facilities - North Haverhill, NH.

One of the out-patient rehabilitation options for clients in North Haverhill who are struggling with opioid abuse and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed centers and doctors are authorized to dispense certain medications to opioid addicted clients, many that are opioid-based also and are habit forming. In low amounts however, the client does not feel high and also doesn't experience intense cravings and is not in opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first med administered for this reason, but there are a few more options currently to choose from.

Methadone is an opiate and can be taken at an out-patient medical center licensed to dispense the med, that is taken on a daily basis in liquid or pill form. The price of the med is around one hundred and fifty dolloars a month. Buprenorphine is also an opioid-based drug, and is a pill often taken every other day. But different from Methadone which can only be dispensed in highly well-regulated medical centers, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and administered in doctor's offices. The cost monthly of buprenorphine is about $300.00 /month for the generic version of the med. There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains naloxone, that is a drug that blocks the effects of opiates. Someone taking this formulation, also known as Suboxone, would find it more difficult to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken every day, and costs about $450 monthly. Naltrexone is an additional med used in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned here it's an opiate blocker and isn't an opioid. A person has the choice to take this drug as a monthly injection, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from experience being high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily injection costs in the range of $1000 to $1200 monthly.
