SAMHSA Certified Opioid Treatment - Alcohol and Drug Rehab Facilities - Hillsborough, NJ.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, "SAMHSA" for short, is the government agency responsible for efforts to promote the behavioral health of the U.S.. One of its duties is the oversight of opioid rehab facilities, which are programs that provide medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to people who are experiencing opioid addiction and dependency. Medicine given are drugs like buprenorphine, methadone, and other drugs which stop withdrawal and curb cravings for opioid addicted people. SAMSHA certified opioid rehabilitation centers in Hillsborough are programs that are officially permitted to give out the drugs used in MAT as long as they maintain their certification and continue to meet certain requirements. One of these requirements is that MAT clients must also get ancillary benefits aside from medication like psychotherapy, behavioral therapy or counseling.

An opioid rehabilitation facility can get their basic certification while working towards becoming fully accredited, but must become fully accredited within a year. Opioid rehab facilities authorized by SAMSHA need to get licensed also by their own state. In addition, they must register with the Drug Enforcement Administration through a local DEA branch. Once an opioid treatment center is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years contingent upon the type of certification it has been granted.
