Opioid rehabilitation facilities authorized by SAMSHA must be licensed by the state in which they operate. In addition, they need to list themselves with the Drug Enforcement Administration via a local DEA branch. Once an opioid rehab program is certified, it must be re-certified every year or every 3 years contingent upon the type of certification it has been given.
