Outpatient Methadone Buprenorphine or Vivitrol - Drug and Alcohol Rehab Facilities - Lyndhurst, NJ.

One of the out-patient rehab alternatives for clients in Lyndhurst who are battling with opioid dependence and addiction is opioid maintenance therapy. Licensed centers and doctors are certified to give specific medications to opioid dependent people, many of which are opioids themselves and are addictive. In low enough doses however, the user doesn't feel high and also does not have acute cravings and isn't experiencing opioid withdrawal. Methadone is the first drug tried for this reason, but there are alternative options to select from.

Methadone is an opiate and can be taken at an outpatient clinic certified to administer the drug, that is taken daily as a pill or liquid. The price of the med is approximately $150 per month. Buprenorphine is also an opioid-based drug, and is in pill form often taken every other day. But unlike Methadone that can only be given in highly well-regulated clinics, Buprenorphine can be prescribed and dispensed in doctor's offices. The price monthly of buprenorphine is about $300 per month for the generic version of the med. There is also a version of buprenorphine that contains the ingredient naloxone, which is a drug which blocks the effects of opiates. A person consuming this version of the drug, also known as Suboxone, would find it harder to get high from opioids if they relapsed while taking the drug. It too is taken every day, and is priced approximately $450 /month. Naltrexone is another medication taken in opioid maintenance therapy, but unlike the other medications mentioned it's an opioid blocker and is not an opioid. There is an option to take this drug as a monthly shot, and that is called Vivitrol. As an opioid blocker, it prevents a person from experience being high from opioids, and therefore lowers the risk associated with relapse. This daily shot costs anywhere from $1000 to $1200 monthly.
