Medicaid is an insurance option for low-income households that because of the Affordable Care Act they are required to provide insurance coverage for standard substance abuse rehabilitation services. Medicaid is presently the single largest payer for mental health treatment services in the country, and is beginning to play a significant role in the reimbursements of drug and alcohol rehabilitation services. Medicaid holders may want to bear in mind that while this is the case, not all facilities will take Medicaid. At rehabilitation programs which do take Medicaid, individuals won't have co-payments in most states. For states which do charge co-pays, there are limits to the out-of-pocket expenses for recipients. Services covered by Medicaid consist of screenings, intervention, counseling, medication maintenance, inpatient, detox, long-term residential, outpatient and behavioral health services.
If an individual in Liberty Center wants to get Medicaid to pay for rehab, they must meet the following criteria: 1) Be over 65 years old or under 19 years of age 2) be pregnant or a parent and 3) fall within a specified income bracket. Each state also has their own rules, limitations and qualification requirements and these vary each year. So, an individual who didn't qualify for Medicaid in their state last year may qualify this year.
