It is a fact that people in rehabilitation for alcohol and/or drug addiction are much more likely to be smokers, 75 percent in fact. As such few centers address the situation as a primary addiction, even though the fact that helping clients quit smoking while in rehab is associated with a 25 percent higher chance the client will stay sober from drugs and alcohol. As a result, there are 'smoking not allowed' drug rehab centers in Mesopotamia that implement a smoking ban and most of them also offer treatment for nicotine addiction.
While total bans on smoking are not normal, an increasing number of rehabs are actually starting to enforce their own bans, but also state and local tobacco-free workplace mandates attempt to make rehabs completely smoke free. In doing so, these mandates avoid the need to develop and implement facility policies that are already legally in place and enforced legally by state and local agencies. Enforcing a complete ban on smoking may make hesitant potential clients who smoke starting treatment. In the meantime, it will help those who do choose a no smoking alcohol and/or drug addiction rehab program be better able to recover in a completely addiction and drug free environment.
