Outpatient Detoxification - Alcohol and Drug Treatment Centers - Ontario, OH.

If someone is receiving outpatient detox they must go to the center assisting them with their detoxification daily or at minimum 5 days per week in most situations. Outpatient detox services are either delivered in the evening or daytime, which makes it ideal for someone who must keep a regular work or school routine. Certain facilities may also provide options to receive detox treatment in a choice of regular outpatient or outpatient day treatment, to improve detoxification services and help prevent a relapse.

An average amount of time clients remain in outpatient detox is about seven days. Some facilities use medication assisted detoxification methods while others offer medication free detox treatement. At times when meds are needed to prevent deadly withdrawal symptoms, as is the case with alcohol and benzodiazepine medications where seizures are sometimes an issue. Otherwise, medical staff at the program help clients manage their physical, emotional and psychological symptoms of cravings and withdrawal until they are detoxed and balanced.

While outpatient detox in Ontario is more flexible for apparent reasons, a severe disadvantage is that clients are at a higher risk of relapse due to the access they maintain to drugs and alcohol. Ideally, clients will transition into a full rehabilitation facility to deal with the causes of their addiction once outpatient or inpatient detox is complete.
